Overview

Becoming a new trainer can be intimidating and hectic! The trainer’s role as a teacher and coach is critical to trainees’ development of the knowledge and skills needed to reach consistently productive success levels. Starting with a solid foundation in the basic skills and knowledge necessary to be a good trainer can mean less ramp-up time to being effective. The purpose of this one-day workshop is to improve participants’ effectiveness as facilitators of learning by implementing principles related to adult learning, facilitation and good platform skills in their training.

Learning Objectives

After completing the one-day workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Use adult learning principles to plan, conduct, evaluate, and follow up productive learning sessions
  • Implement components of facilitation to engage trainees in interactive learning activities and self-directed learning
  • Manage the learning environment so participants have a positive development experience
  • Demonstrate effective platform skills that augment learning during workshop facilitation

Who Can Benefit from this Workshop

This one-day workshop will benefit:

  • New trainers who have little to no development for their training role
  • Trainers who have been in their role but never received basic adult learning principles, facilitation of learning, or platform skills training
  • Anyone who would like a review of the basics of effectively fulfilling a training role
