Webinar Description: The Experience API (xAPI) is a format for accurately mapping training to performance. xAPI uses a simple but powerful Actor-Verb-Object (Learner-Did-This) data structure to gather and store learning activity streams about learners in a Learning Record Store (LRS). The data format is easily readable by humans and computers, allows for simple integration and interoperability between disparate systems, and can future-proof the L&D ecosystem in which it resides.

Much of current digital learning provides the learner an engaging experience but does not provide the educator insightful evaluation data more than completions. All organizations are seeking the ability to get training ROI information, get into future concepts like Adaptive Learning, Automated Tutoring, Learning at the point of need, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence. xAPI is the stepping stone to these future concepts.

This session will cover the basics of xAPI, purposeful application of xAPI to your organization, and how you can begin to use xAPI immediately to drive a deeper level of value into your L&D program. There is a perception that xAPI may be complex and time consuming when it is not. No experience with xAPI is necessary to attend this session. The lesson will include the use of Open Source xAPI tools that attendees can take-away and use in their own learning environment and will conclude with a blueprint and materials on how they can make the case for xAPI in their organization with a Proof of Principle.

Learning Objectives:

- Learn a non-technical explanation of xAPI

- Learn how using xAPI will increase the breadth of your learning evaluation techniques

- Learn how to use powerful, free open-sourced tools to begin using and making the case for xAPI back at the office

- Learn how other corporate companies are using xAPI today to gain data-driven learning insights
