Personify Leadership: Courageous Conversations

Through a video case study, we follow Manny as he confronts an ethical dilemma involving an employee’s poor performance. First, we analyze the situation from a human systems perspective, based on Barry Oshry’s work, to understand the underlying power dynamics. Then we look at what Manny must do, presenting a framework for courageous conversations that participants can use for their own sticky situations at work.

Learner Objectives:

  • Explore the significance of managerial courage when faced with opposition, challenges and obstacles

  • Learn an approach to help you prepare for and effectively conduct courageous conversations in your workplace.

  • Learn to apply Oshry’s Tops, Middles, Bottoms model to analyze and better understand the inherent challenges of organizational systems.
