Career Transition Special Interest Group (SIG)

The Career Transition SIG is excited to announce our next monthly meeting with John D. Howell, Speaker and Consultant, presenting Marketing Yourself as “Me Inc.” 

At this meeting, you’ll learn to market and sell yourself effectively, and to apply a process that helps you develop your career on your terms and time schedule.  Also, discover ways to develop strategic personal marketing by understanding your competencies, and learn how to effectively brag about your accomplishments in a way that separates you from the pack.

This session will provide an opportunity for participants to do a quick personal analysis and to draft appropriate marketing tools to support their career campaign towards desired outcomes. 

Speaker Bio:  John D. Howell has an extensive career in training & development and performance engineering. His experience includes being an internal and external consultant to large and small corporations. He is expertly skilled at designing strategies and solutions to help individuals and organizations during times of change, transitions and growth.

He has vast experience delivering both technical and soft skills training across all industries and to all levels of participants, from the executive level through front-line and multicultural staff. His training expertise includes programs on team building, leadership, change management, supervision and management, sales, career transition, negotiation, emergency response and safety.

Mr. Howell has developed numerous seminars, designed workbooks and related materials, and conducted programs in a variety of locations, indoors and out. He travels extensively serving as keynote speaker, seminar leader, and consultant to federal and state governments, military, industry and professional associations.

Prior to starting his consulting practice, Mr. Howell served over 20 years in staff development, operations and training positions with American Red Cross, Rouse Developers, Westin and Hilton Hotels. He has been actively involved in the

Houston business community for over 20 years, serving on boards and committees of several chambers and professional societies. He is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, active member of Homeland Security’s Emergency Response Team and Pearland VFD.

Mr. Howell has a (Thesis in process) Master’s Degree in Psychology, a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, is certified as a Trainer and Experiential Learning Facilitator, a First Aid/CPR/ AED Instructor, Career Strategist, Safety & Water Survival Instructor.
