Whether it's Nobel Prize Winners, Olympic gold medal athletes or NY Times best-selling authors, what characteristics do they all share that leads them to what Duke Ellington called "beyond category?" I call them the STELLAR Characteristics.  How can you learn these 7 STELLAR Characteristics to elevate your own skills and performance, as well as your team?  Get ready to take a deep dive by completing some activities that will improve your performance and inspire others towards working at the highest levels of performance.

In this session, participants will:

  • Identify what it takes to be a stellar performer.
  • Describe the characteristics of individuals who achieve this highest level of performance.
  • Determine what actions to take to learn the stellar characteristics and apply them to your work.

About the Speaker

Howard Prager — Founder, Executive Coach, & Leadership Consultant, Advance Learning Group

Advance Learning Group founder, Executive Coach and leadership consultant Howard Prager works to strengthen people and organizations through developing and facilitating leadership, management, communications and strategic planning programs. He is a thought leader in leadership development and writes and researches on topics including what makes stellar performance. His programs are informative, customized, fun and practical and have been recognized with several awards from professional associations. Howard serves as an Executive Coach to managers and leaders and is certified in Stakeholder Centered Coaching. In 2017 Howard was selected to be a member of the MG100 Coaches chosen from 16,000 applicants to work with New York Times best-selling author and executive coach Marshall Goldsmith to learn and further his work.

Howard spent 12 years as a learning and development leader in Fortune 500 companies including Allstate, Waste Management, and Exelon; 16 years in executive education at the University of Notre Dame and Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, and 10 years as an entrepreneur and consultant. At Allstate and Exelon, Howard was responsible for team, management and leadership development working with the site leadership team and Business Partners. He designed and analyzed the first managerial needs analysis at Allstate and created Being Your Best: A Guide to Career Planning and Coaching. Howard earned his MBA from the University of Michigan in Organizational Behavior and has a BA in Psychology from Northwestern University.

Howard is a lead assessor for ANSI in their Certificate Accreditation Programs and an instructor for Human Capital Institute. He is a frequent author in journals including TD, CLO, and Industrial Commercial and Training and has written books including most recently “The Ins and Outs of Subcontracting” and is a contributor to the ATD Workplace Learning and Performance Handbook. Howard served on the Board of Directors for ATD, is past Chair of the National Advisors for Chapters, and is past President of ATDChi, the Chicagoland Chapter. Howard Is a reviewer for the ATD Excellence in Practice awards and the CLO Learning Elite awards, volunteers with the Northwestern Alumni Association, chairs several committees for the Boy Scouts, and plays the tuba.
